Hi,
the new version (1.02) is finally released. Some interesting features were added. Main one being the media library: It's a work in progress, so don't expect too much of it :p.
As I'm not a big fan of those huges databases you must constantly refresh,
the feature is disabled by default, so the application will behave like before. However, the media library has two purposes: to offer a view of your media files with some criterias (artist, date, etc.) and also to speedup the display of your folders on XMB, as the media library act like a parsing cache (metadata, thumbnails, etc.). So, to have a better browsing experience, but without the hassle of scanning all your folders, I would suggest to enable the media library (in the general configuration tab), and not touch the scan button (in the folders sharing tab). People who like to have their files organized with tags and such can happily click on that button, though :p (beware of loooong scan time if you have a lot of files). The media library is also a progressive learner, so it will update itself automatically when new or updated folders will be browsed on the XMB.
There's some fixes too. Such as better codecs support and A/V out of sync issues. About this, as there's not (yet?) perfect synchronization with every video file out there, the "Video Settings" Menu has been revamped, so playback options are easily changeable now. You can dynamically enable or disable the A/V sync alternative method (in case of out of sync), a deinterlacing filter, subtitles, etc.
I would also thank the people who are helping on the project code and the google groups, as they contribute to make this project more alive ! You can download new version here:
Download PS3 Media Server 1.02 for Windows/Linux (OSX version should come soon)
And here's the changelog:
- New features

Playlists (m3u/pls) support

New options for video resolution, deinterlace filter, and archives browsing
Video settings with an easier virtual menu (A/V sync, deinterlace, ...)
Windows service installer (working on 32 bits only)
New image parsing library: Better performance / EXIF support (sort photos by camera model, etc.)

- Fixes
A/V out of sync issues with some ISOs and medias / codecs support improvement (flv, rmvb, hdmov, mp4, multichannels avi, etc.)

Thank you! I am so going to try this version right now!
hi. thank you for greatest mediaserver!!
but i think you must concentrate on technical playing features.
database engine, tagging, and installer... it`s good, but not in first priority. we have a lot of nice programs, with thousands functions, but he is don`t work, i mean, he is dont playing content, as you server do it! you do great software, you software is first, as i see, that trying to play content without transcoding videostream, if content supported ps3 natively. i mean muxing H264.mkv in h264.m2ts with tsmuxer programm. i think do some like this, but you doit first.
thank you again.
i noticed i have no problem with audio when playing movies without subtitles. when i play a movie with subtitles (a must with my relatives and friends since they don't speak english) the audio breaks, specially when the audio levels are low. is there a way i can fix it? i've been trying with different configurations but same thing :(
I appreciate your work so much!!
MOV files still don't seem to work.. but overall, a great program that'll surely become a hit.
This is the best PS3 media server out there. Thank you for your hard work, and keep it up! :)
thankyou very much for this amazing mediaserver!

great software donated $10 aus
have some issues.. tho with the 1.02
1.00 works good...
1.02 installed on vista x64 (does it have issues with uac)
clicked media in general tab.. then get green triangles.. tried the service and it does not seem to start the software on reboot i even set it to start automatically... is this due to uac...
then whe i quit the software then try to restart via icon on desktop nothing happens.. check task manager and processes and i see that the java service is working but no gui... the only way i can get it going is to reinstall the software...
Are anyone else getting any issues...with x64 vista....(norton UAC)
Congrats a piece of software that will being one of the best which i think it is already for the simplicity...
Keep up the good work..
Denis
i love this software, great stuff
just wondering why on some mkvs, when i try to play with tsmuxer, only the audio comes out but no video
one word... GREAT!!!
Thanks, thanks, thanks!!
Hi, wonderfull program! A question, can you implement the vision of the fonts inside the mkv files? Should be great! :D
Hello. First of all i´d like to thank for this fabulous piece of software. Second, i have a issue with my PMS that is bugging me so very much. When i update my display driver (nvidia), the PMS (1.01,1.02...) window begins blinking and in various instances becomes black and blinking again.
I have the 181.00 installed, and when i downgrade or upgrade the driver it beguns, but with this it doesn´t. does anyone out there that have this issue too? i have the vista64...
I also have the reeinstalling issue equal to user DACRO, any solution???
Thank you Again.
hi there again, i´ve discovered that my issue had to do with the sli profile i had. thanks anyway
thank you - awesome! I have some issues with service on Vista32bit, seems like it doesnt work... but nevertheless, this is great work, and thank you!
