As every Sunday, new version is around the corner ! Some features were added, main one being the PCM transcoding for DTS movies. You may have some channels ordering issues, but workarounds are available in the Readme file. Try it !

Any chance of a Mac OS X version ?
Why not, don't think it will be too hard (just a launcher to do), but the main problem is the relative age of Mencoder builds on osx (a quick search gave me the last recent version from march 2006).
With an old build like this, HD videos will no play very well I'm afraid

Merci pour la modif avisynth suite a ma demande. Ce logiciel est vraiment devenu le meilleur dans le genre! Pour ta prochaine version j'aurai encore une petite demande : pouvoir choisir le temps où l'image de prévisualisation est prise, ou même juste avoir le choix entre debut milieu et fin; enfin c'est vraiment si t'as le temps...

Je viens d'installer le logiciel et franchement il est excellent. Pour la première fois je peux écouter des streams radios ou voir des streams tv à partir du XMB. Je pensais même pas que c'était possible! Le fichier WEB.conf est facilement éditable, on peut supprimer ou rajouter ce que l'on veut, c'est super. Merci beaucoup :)
Pour info certains streams de http://www.live365.com/ ne passent pas en lecture xmb : erreur "type de données non compatible". Pourtant ils sont lus sans problèmes sous windows avec VLC. Cela pourrait-il être lié à MPlayer ? J'ai essayé de modifier le fichier PMS.conf pour que VLC prenne en charge les streams audios mais sans succès. Est ce qu'il y'a une manip simple qui pourrait résoudre le problème ou c'est plus compliqué que ça ? Merci
Hi! First thank you for this outstanding software. I lost too much time trying to convert my videos and got little sucess. Your software is easy to use and works great. I am playing a 1280x720 video (mkv) but the video lose part of the upper and bottom side. I mean like there is a zoom. My tv is 16:9 720p, and the ps3 is set to 1080i. All the games and videos play fullscreen. What do you think ?

Don't really know about that, I do not change any video resolution, I just send the same one as input video. try playing the same video with another transcoding engine (avisynth, or tsmuxer)

i tried to run the 0.97 versions a few days ago.
i remember getting a class errror. (will check later today) the problem was , that there is currently no java version 1.6 for osx available, the latest is 1.5.
if possible try to compile against java version 1.5.
at leastit should be possible to run the comand line version then , all the other tools are available for osx, either from macports or by self compiling them from the source packages.
Excellent program... It is working like a charm and takes everything I throw at it, including subtitles!
about Mac OSX again, i was wrong. there is a 1.6 java version but only for 64bit intel platforms.
and it need to be activated via the /Application/Utilities/Java/Java Preferences Application.
after that PMS runs on Mac OSX too.
i was able to stream some avi files. mkv files did not work. first because on macos, mkfifo does not accept the '--mode=777' parameter i was able to get past this with a shell macro 'used mkfifo -m 777 fifoname , but it does still not work because there seem to be troubles with mktemp too. i will stop at this point as iam no linux export, i am sure PMS will work one OSX with some minor tweaks, because basically it does the same as mediatomb.

oh and btw, i think you messed up the tsmuxerPath on linux because PMS wanted to start linux/tsMuxer.exe but there is only a tsMuxer (had to add .exe)

Cool Software! But with flaws.
MEncoder do not work properly, I must switch to AviSynth/FFMpeg. If I play [gSS]Gundam 00 S2, [BSS] Nodame Cantabile, [Eclipse] Toaru Majutsu no Index or any other 720p MKV Anime. Video, Sound and Subtile a out of Sync.
PS3 OS 2.42, PC Intel Core2 Q9450,8GB RAM, Vista x64 SP1 German, 1GBit Network, Java 1.6_10
I have a strong suggestion. Please add a Dated view like TVersity. Folder View is a pain in the ass.

Déjà, bravo, j'utilisais TVersity depuis 18 mois, et PS3 Media Server (PMS) est bien plus pratique dès le début.

I tested a few files and currently only 1 mkv file and 1 avi were out of synch, but I'm investigating. I had set PMS to MEncoder only.
Right now I'm having trouble with some avi Xvid files which used to work under TVersity, but not with PSM. I tried all different transcoding settings, but the PS3 always comes up with "unsupported data". It's all fansubbed episodes of Bleach from episode 168 onwards by dattebayo to be super specific. Prior they play fine. I'm sure this has to do with codecs on the PC... I'll post my findings. Note that öy PS3 is on 2.53 now

UDPATE.
Actually I changed the priority of the transcoder to TsMuxer. Then I tried using the "transcoded" folder, then the corresponding episode's folder, and using "MEncoder", which worked perfectly, the other option resulted in "corrupted data".
This software is brilliant!
BTW, here my source PC specs:

J'ai des problème de décalage du son sur certaines videos : le son est en avance sur l'image. Je dois arreter la video puis la relancer pour que ça marche. Je précise qu'il n'y a aucun problème si je la lis sur le pc.

Thanks for this great program! I was wondering if you were aware - there is a bug in the GUI, I believe. When you set your CPU cores to be 8 (like on the new Intel Core i920 processors) the GUI appears to reset to display that you have 1 core for transcoding or 2... even though the configuration file is right.

Also, is it possible to have album art display for music folders? What does the file have to be named? I just quit using TVersity because I was tired of all of the bugs with FLAC transcoding.
Hmm, another question about the multithreaded transcoding - I am trying to see if it is working properly using Task Manager / Performance Monitor under Windows Vista 64 bit. How fast should the transcode be? I expect that to transcode a FLAC to WAV should be a very fast procedure with 4 or more threads? I have an Intel core i920 processor.

Bonjour! J'ai de petit problème de synchronisation avec mes fichiers. Quand je lit des MKV, j'ai un probleme de sychro, le son part après l'image.
@Bogglor: album art folder isn't supported by ps3, it's only on files level (which I hope to support soon myself). About Flac, not sure it's using multithreading, I'll take a look

Yes, I know album art isn't supported by folder by the PS3, I was talking about the file level. Glad to hear you're thinking about support for that soon.
I think your software has the potential to be the absolute best. I want to request one feature -- is it possible that you can support transcoding of 24 bit / 96 khz audio? Is there any technical reason why this is not possible with any of the tools in your suite? I know that the PS3 will give a "file type unsupported" when you copy a 24/96 WAV file to the hard drive but in the audio options, the PS3 *should* be technically capable of it.
Many music download sites are beginning to offer high resolution music formats for download. It would be a nice feather in your cap to be the only software that could support this. Let me know if you want to discuss it...

get stuck every 1 second or so.
my computer p4 3.0
2gb of memory
i am using wireless router and signal strength is at 80%
what should i do??
second problem the movies wont show hebrew subtitles what char set should i use for it to work?

in order to transcode 720p properly you need to have your PS3 wired. Wireless will allow a practical data transfer speed of about 5mbs in a real-life environment, especially at 80% strength. Normally 720p transcoded can go up to 20mbs, which will explain why your PC struggles. I even switched to a dual core PC and installed GB network at home to get it right.

@wasabi111: P4 is maybe a little just for 720p, you have to try different settings... If you haven't tried the new version, go for it, read the FAQ, limit the bandwidth to a fixed value (12 for example), and read my answer on the last post about hebrew subtitles :)
it seems maybe there's still an issue with wifi, but I'm trying to often update the app, so stay tuned :p
